Aromatherapy massage combines massage with essential oils to create a relaxing and impactful experience. With a vast range of benefits, it can help to manage pain, improve sleep quality, reduce stress and alleviate headaches.

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy uses essential oils, obtained from aromatic and medicinal plants. The oils are extracted from different parts of the plant including seeds, bark, leaves and flowers.

Aromatherapy itself has been carried in some form or another for thousands of years and is not specific to any place. Many countries around the world have documented history showing the use of aromatic plants in healing tradition and religious rituals.

The word aromatherapy originates from the from the French word aromathérapie. Famously, this term was first used by the chemist, Gattefosse.

During an accident, Gattefosse badly burned himself. To help cool the wound, he used lavender essential oil to douse his burn. Gattefosse noted that the essential oil not only stopped any infection in the wound, but also promoted faster healing. And so, aromatherapy began!
